50. Pray about New Year’s goals – I can’t think of a better way to ring in the New Year than on your knees.
3. Is it bad that the trailers playing ahead of Welcome to Marwen are all over the place? Generally, trailers mimic what’s to come, which makes sense: People paying for Aquaman probably want to see more superheroes, and people paying for The Favourite probably want to see more Oscar hopefuls. But ahead of Welcome to Marwen, there was a trailer for a Christian movie called Breakthrough, for Destroyer, for the Kevin Hart–Bryan Cranston feel-good comedy The Upside, for the Liam Neeson snowplow action movie, for the Rebel Wilson meta-rom-com, for the Downton Abbey movie, and for the new M. Night Shyamalan movie. This suggests that literally no one — not even studios — knows who this movie is for.

Every Christmas I make a beeline for the home section in TK Maxx where they have some stunning yet inexpensive glasses.

Despite all reason, the accessory is surprisingly versatile. A big, black, handmade silk bow from the Santa Fe studio Bianca & Red affixed to the end of a braid pairs well with the I’m-dressing-for-myself vibe of Phoebe Philo-era Céline. The same brand’s long, red-and-white-striped iteration, made from a cotton-linen blend from Italy, looks like something Dolly Parton might have worn in the 60s when tied to a low, loose ponytail. But when pinned atop a high ponytail, it’s sheer cheerleader. The accessories designer Jennifer Behr has gone so all-in on bows that her Website has the Bow Shop selling a velvet bow studded with pearls for $198 or plush ones made from vintage velvet in hydrangea, rhubarb, and dandelion.
I was listening to the radio station K-Love as I was driving to work in my 1997 barely-hanging-on Saturn station wagon (they said it would last me a year, and I got 10 out of it!). As I was pulling into the restaurant where I had recently landed a job as a server, “We want to send you home for Christmas!” sounded a man’s voice across the radio waves. My pulse quickened. I parked and grabbed a pen and sales receipt. K-Love was offering a fully paid airfare-included trip to anywhere in the USA to send the winners of their essay contest to wherever they called home. The subject was, of course, “Why should we send you?”

Furoshiki is a Japanese art of using fabric to wrap items. There are many different ways to fold the fabric under this practice, but the general notion of using fabric to wrap your Christmas gifts is one that’s becoming more popular. Use extra pieces of fabric around your home, or give your spare sheets, pillowcase and towels a secondary function this season. I’ve also seen gift bows fashioned out of neckties, which can make a beautiful statement.
I believe Ronnie and I had the same feeling toward family and Christmas. He was always the one who put up all the decorations in the house. Ever since I have been old enough, I’ve put up the decorations in my grandparents’ house. Some of these are the same decorations that Ronnie put up in his youth.
“I think it’s fun because you get to hang out with the different grade levels, and we all just have fun with art. It’s not like we’re struggling with math or anything,” Pottschmidt said, smiling. “We’re having fun, so it’s a good time.”
After the traditional ceremony, Nicholas and Alina were whisked off in a horse-drawn carriage to the reception held at the Sinaia Casino. The happy couple were accompanied by crowds during the ride to the Casino, where they stopped to wave to well-wishers from the balcony. Before celebrations began, the newlyweds sealed the deal with a royal smooch.
