  • The American forest and Paper Association released data on U.S. paper products for July.

    cardboard

      The total paperboard production in July fell by 7% year-on-year, and the total output in the first seven months decreased by 2% year-on-year. The operating rate of paperboard was 90.4%, with a year-on-year decrease of 3.3 percentage points, which was basically the same as that at the beginning of the year (an increase of 0.3 percentage points).

    Container board

      Compared with July 2019, the total container paperboard production in July was basically flat (down 0.2%), and increased by 4% compared with the same period of 7 months in 2019.
    In July 2020, the export of cardboard production decreased by 7% compared with the same period last year, and increased by 28% compared with the beginning of the year.
    The operating rate of containerboard was 89.4%, 1.6 percentage points lower than that in July 2019, and 3.1 percentage points higher from the beginning of the year.
    Compared with the end of July in 2019, the inventory of paper board decreased by 7000 tons compared with that at the end of July in 2019.

      In July, the total volume of packaging paper and special packaging increased by 7% year-on-year and 3% compared with the same period in 2019.
    2.5% from the beginning of the year, down from 2.0% to now.
    Factory inventory at the end of July decreased by 1000 short tons compared with last month and increased by 17000 short tons compared with July 2019.
